About Us
La Junta Jr/Sr High School is the place to be! Students are nurtured to clearly communicate, to take responsibility, and to adapt through a comprehensive education that prepares them for post-secondary education, military and/or workforce readiness. We aim to empower students and adults to lead lives of purpose and impact by fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and forever learning. Our collaborative approach ensures that everyone feels valued and supported in our shared journey to success.
Our District
East Otero School District is home to an elementary school grades K-2 and one intermediate school grades 3-6, one junior/senior high school and one alternative education campus.

La Junta Jr/Sr High School students represented the district at the 71st Annual Colorado Science & Engineering Fair at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Competing against more than 300 students statewide, they engaged with university professors, industry leaders, and fellow young scientists while presenting their research and attending hands-on STEM sessions. Highlights included Kendyl Osborn earning 2nd place for the second year in a row along with multiple special awards and a national-level nomination, and Isaiah Peralta exploring future engineering pathways after a CSU engineering department tour. The team also formed new partnerships with CSU’s Little Shop of Physics, gaining access to hands-on demonstrations and free STEM kits for district-wide use, and contributed to real-world science by documenting a new bumblebee species in northern Colorado.
